Afropolitan Edit, a fashion media and consultancy platform focused on African fashion and creative industry development, has announced THE EDIT, a two-day curated fashion retail experience scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2026, in Lekki, Lagos.
Taking place during the Lagos Fashion Week season, THE EDIT is positioned as a dedicated platform for independent African fashion brands to engage directly with new audiences, build commercial relationships and create greater visibility beyond the traditional runway format.
Built around the theme “A little more room for African fashion,” the initiative will bring together a curated selection of 10 independent African fashion brands, offering consumers an opportunity to discover emerging labels, engage directly with their creators and shop their collections.
According to Afropolitan Edit, THE EDIT responds to a growing reality within Africa’s fashion ecosystem: some of the continent’s most promising brands are building strong businesses and communities outside conventional runway showcases
Precious Efanga, Creative Director of Afropolitan Edit, said the initiative was created to broaden the ways African fashion can connect with audiences and convert visibility into meaningful customer relationships.
“THE EDIT is about creating more room for African fashion to be discovered, experienced, and supported. There are exceptional brands building from studios, workshops, and growing businesses, and we want to create another platform through which their work can reach new audiences.”
Efanga said the retail-first concept was intentional, noting that the relationship between a fashion brand and its customer extends beyond the runway.
“A runway creates visibility, but the customer relationship begins when people can engage with the product, understand the story behind it, and make a decision to buy. THE EDIT is designed around that connection.”
The event will focus on brand discovery, direct customer engagement and retail, and providing participating businesses with an environment to showcase their products while receiving direct feedback from consumers.
Beyond the physical experience, Afropolitan Edit will develop digital storytelling around participating brands, their products, and the people behind them. The digital component is expected to extend the visibility and commercial conversation around the brands before, during, and after the event.
Efanga described this integrated approach as an important part of the platform’s value proposition.
“We are looking beyond two days of retail. We want to tell the stories of the brands, introduce the people behind them, and create a longer conversation around their products. Visibility is important, but meaningful engagement and commercial sustainability are equally important.”
THE EDIT will take place alongside the wider Lagos Fashion Week season, offering an additional avenue for consumers, fashion enthusiasts, and industry stakeholders to engage with African fashion.
For Afropolitan Edit, the objective is to contribute to a more connected fashion ecosystem, one where independent brands have greater opportunities to be discovered, supported, and commercially positioned.
“African fashion has extraordinary creative talent,” Efanga said. “What we are creating with THE EDIT is an additional platform for that talent to connect with audiences and translate creativity into sustainable business relationships.”

With its combination of curated retail, brand storytelling, and direct consumer engagement, THE EDIT is expected to provide a focused platform for independent African fashion businesses seeking greater visibility and stronger customer connections.
