For about 25 pupils in Jahi, Abuja, the support they received from the Rotary Club Of Abuja City represents more than school fees, books, pens, and pencils. It is a message of Hope of promise, support and a reminder that their dreams are worth investing in.

Through an educational intervention, the club reached out to pupils in the community, helping to ease some of the financial burden associated with primary education.
One of the most significant aspects of the initiative was the decision by club members to adopt pupils and pledge to support them through the completion of their primary education. The commitment moves the intervention beyond a one-day outreach, creating an opportunity for sustained support and stronger relationships between the children and the club members who have chosen to stand behind them.
For families bearing the cost of education, assistance with school fees and basic learning materials can make a real difference. A child who has the necessary books and writing materials is better equipped to participate in classroom activities while support with school fees can help reduce the risk of interrupted schooling.
Speaking on the initiative, the President of the Rotary Club Of Abuja City, Rotarian Rosemary Omonigho said the intervention reflected the club’s belief that every child deserves an opportunity to learn and build a better future.
‘Every child deserves the chance to go to school, learn and pursue their dreams without being held back by circumstances beyond their control. Our responsibility is not simply to identify a need and respond to it but to make a commitment to the future of these children.’
The project chair, Rotarian Sunday Edoka, said the invention was designed to respond to the immediate educational needs while establishing a foundation for longer-term support.
For members of the Rotary club of Abuja City who adopted these pupils, the project is in recognition of the importance of children completing their primary education and the impact of sustained support to improve the standard and quality of education across Nigeria.
